Employers in Ireland are required to comply with eye safety regulations under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007. These obligations include:

Provision of Safety Eyewear – Employers must supply appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including prescription safety goggles, where workplace hazards pose a risk to eye safety.
VDU Screenings & Eye Examinations – Employees who regularly use display screens as part of their role are entitled to routine eye examinations, funded by their employer.
Corrective Eyewear for VDU Work – If a vision assessment indicates that specific corrective lenses are required for display screen work, employers must provide suitable eyewear at no cost to the employee.
